Basic Information
The US standard is UNS S32304, and the Swedish commercial designation is SAF 2304. It has been confirmed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for use in boilers and pressure vessels, and has been included in standards in many countries.
Chemical Composition: C≤0.030, Si≤1.0, Mn≤2.5, S≤0.030, P≤0.040, Cr 21.5-24.5, Ni 3.0-5.5, Mo 0.05-0.6, N 0.05-0.20, Cu 0.05-0.6.
Mechanical Properties
Steel Pipe (Φ≤25.4mm): At room temperature, tensile strength σb≥690MPa, yield strength σ0.2≥450MPa, elongation δ5≥25%.
Steel Plate: At room temperature, tensile strength σb≥600MPa, yield strength σ0.2≥400MPa, elongation δ5≥25%; at 50℃, tensile strength is 600MPa, yield strength is 370MPa; at 100℃, tensile strength is 570MPa, yield strength is 330MPa; at 200℃, tensile strength is 530MPa, yield strength is 290MPa; at 300℃, tensile strength is 500MPa, yield strength is 260MPa.
Corrosion Resistance: PRE value is 25, comparable to 316L stainless steel. Critical pitting temperature (CPT) is higher than 304L, and comparable to 316L. Good intergranular corrosion resistance, corrosion resistance in nitric acid is comparable to 304L, corrosion resistance in sulfuric acid is comparable to 316L, and even better than 316L in organic acids such as formic acid.
Welding Performance: Good welding performance, no heat treatment is required before welding. Suitable for welding using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW and SAW methods. When welding using GTAW method, filler wire is required, and pure argon or Ar+2% N2 protective gas should be used.
Processing Performance
Hot Forming: Forming temperature range 1100-950℃, quenching treatment after forming.
Cold Forming: The forming method is the same as that of austenitic stainless steel. It is difficult to start deformation, but after reaching the yield limit, the deformation is the same as that of austenitic stainless steel. However, deep drawing, cold spinning and other forming are more difficult than austenitic stainless steel.
Heat Treatment: Solution treatment temperature 950-1050℃, rapid cooling; stress relief annealing temperature is 550-600℃.
