Classification and Process
Mainly divided into cold-galvanized seamless pipes and hot-galvanized seamless pipes. Cold-galvanized seamless pipes, also known as electro-galvanized seamless pipes, have a smaller amount of galvanizing, generally 10-50g/m², and the zinc layer is independently layered from the steel pipe substrate. It is thinner and prone to peeling, with poor corrosion resistance, and has gradually been phased out. Hot-galvanized seamless pipes are produced by first pickling the steel pipe to remove iron oxide, then cleaning it in an ammonium chloride or zinc chloride aqueous solution, and then sending it into a hot-dip galvanizing tank, allowing the molten metal to react with the iron substrate to produce an alloy layer, thereby combining the substrate and the coating. Hot-dip galvanized seamless pipes have a uniform coating, strong adhesion, and a long service life, making them the most commonly used type.
Performance Characteristics
Good corrosion resistance: The zinc layer effectively prevents the steel from directly contacting the outside atmosphere, resisting corrosion from the atmosphere, water, and soil, and extending the service life of the steel pipe.
High strength and good pressure resistance: Seamless steel pipes themselves have high strength and good pressure resistance. After galvanizing, this characteristic is maintained, capable of withstanding high pressure and flow rates, suitable for high-pressure pipeline systems.
Convenient construction: It can be welded or connected using flanges. For large-diameter pipes, groove-type installation can also be used, with relatively low installation difficulty and convenient construction.
Smooth and beautiful surface: The galvanized steel pipe has a high surface finish and beautiful appearance, not only meeting engineering requirements but also improving the overall aesthetics of buildings or equipment to a certain extent.
Common specifications: Galvanized seamless pipes come in various specifications, with outer diameters ranging from a few millimeters to several hundred millimeters, and various wall thicknesses. Common materials include Q235B carbon steel, and some use alloy steel, selectable based on specific needs.
Application Fields
Construction field: Commonly used in water supply, heating, and air conditioning pipeline projects, and also in some supporting components of building structures.
Industrial field: Widely used in pipeline systems in the petroleum, chemical, energy, textile, and food processing industries, transporting crude oil, natural gas, chemicals, and various liquids and gases.
Infrastructure construction: Used in bridges, tunnels, and highway guardrails. Its high strength and corrosion resistance effectively improve the safety and stability of the project.
