Common Materials

Alloy drill steel: such as 35SiMnMoV, 55SiMnMo, etc., which have high strength, toughness and fatigue resistance, suitable for medium and large diameter drill rods, drilling medium and deep rock holes. 23CrNi3MoA, 18CrNi3MoA, 45CrNiMoVA and other alloy steels are widely used in the drill bit series of drill bits, drill rods, connecting sleeves, etc.

 

Production Process

Smelting: Modern hollow steel smelting mostly uses electric arc furnace smelting - vacuum degassing - secondary refining methods to improve the purity of steel and reduce non-metallic inclusions.
Rolling: The steel billet is processed into the required shape and size through rolling process, such as hexagonal and circular cross-section hollow steel. The process parameters should be controlled during rolling to ensure the quality and performance of the steel.
Heat treatment: Including normalizing, tempering, quenching, etc., such as tempering can eliminate the brittleness and internal stress after quenching, and improve the plasticity and impact toughness of the steel.

 

Performance Requirements

High strength and high toughness: It can withstand high-frequency impact and torsional torque of 2600-3000 times/min, transmit impact energy of more than 85-750J, and at the same time have good toughness to ensure low fatigue notch sensitivity.
Good fatigue resistance: Working under cyclic stress, it needs to have high cycle toughness to reduce the fatigue crack propagation speed.
Certain corrosion resistance: Mainly the corrosion resistance of atmosphere and mine water, to prevent corrosion in the working environment.
